Be Cautious of “SEO Smart Links Business” Plugin in WordPress
If you’re searching for a post to know how to make an external link a “dofollow” link, just read my post on “How to make a external link, DoFollow in WordPress”. At the end I’ve mentioned that I faced a problem, where the rel=”nofollow” still remains for the external links.
Finally I found a solution to the problem. The culprit was a SEO WordPress plugin called “SEO Smart Links Business”. As you can see below, the plugin when installed will be displayed on the dashboard on the left hand side.
When you click the plugin name, you can see the various settings or options for the plugin. One of the settings or options, is the External links.
Here, you can make any external link “nofollow” by checking the checkbox next to “Add nofollow attribute”. So, this will make all the external links “nofollow”. This is the same mistake I’ve done.
What did I do Wrong?
So when I added rel=”dofollow” to external links as mentioned in the earlier post, it was still adding the rel=”nofollow” at the end of the link, because of this option in “SEO Smart Links Business” plugin. Now, when I UN-CHECKED that option, the external link have rel=”nofollow” at the end disappeared.
So when you see the page-source for this post. http://techlikes.com/2011/07/24/chit-chat-for-facebook-blackberry-facebook-chat-app.html, you can see the 2 links as “dofollow”. There is no rel=”nofollow” attribute at the end of the links.
This is a complete solution to the “dofollow” problem!
