Outlook Express and Windows 7: Import Calendars

I’ve already written two posts on import and from outlook express to Windows Live Mail in Windows 7. This is my last post in the series on importing calendars to Windows Live Mail on Windows 7 or update your new Windows 7 OS with your old calendars.

Import Calendars

In order to import calendars from programs like Windows Calendar or Outlook Express into Windows Live Mail, you first need to have a Windows Live ID. If you do not have Windows Live ID you can for one, which is free. Then you can import the calendar into Windows Live Calendar which is on the web. When you use Live ID, your online calendars will automatically sync with Windows Live Mail calendars.

You have two options on imports calendars from an early Windows software to Windows Live Calendar.

1. Create a new calendar and import the old calendar information into it.

2. Import the old calendar information into an existing calendar.

1. To import into a New Calendar

  1. Save the calendar on your computer as an ICS file (.ics file extension).

  2. Go to the webpage.

  3. Sign in with your Windows Live ID.

  4. On the toolbar above the calendar, click Subscribe.

  5. Select Import from an ICS file, and then click Browse.

  6. Browse to the ICS file, click it, and then click Open.

  7. Select Import into a new calendar.

  8. In the Calendar name box, type a name for the calendar.

  9. Next to Color, select a color for the calendar.

  10. Click Import calendar.

  11. Click Done.

2. To Import into Existing Calendar

  7. Select Import into an existing calendar.

  8. Next to Select which calendar, choose the calendar that you want to use.

  9. Next to Prevent duplicates, select one of the following:

    • Only keep the new events. Any events previously imported from the same calendar will be replaced with newer versions of the same events.

    • Only keep the original events. Any events previously imported from the same calendar are kept, and only new events will be imported.

  10. Click Import calendar.

  11. Click Done.

These are two options in which you can import calendars from an early outlook express or windows mail calendar into the new online Windows Live Calendar!

Hurray!
