Sync your bookmarks at Office and Home using: Xmarks Open tabs
Xmarks is a valuable tool for people using different computers and browsers. Normally, when you use different computers and want to synchronize your bookmarks, you will export your bookmarks in the form of HTML or any other format and try to import into your system or browser again.
Well, Xmarks tries to reduce this headache and keeps your bookmarks online and can sync your bookmarks whereever you are, as it is an online bookmark tool. No need of exporting and importing bookmarks. All you have to do is install Xmarks and sync your profile. This works for Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Chrome.
The latest Xmarks version for Internet Explorer is 1.2.0 and Firefox is 3.6.15. In this new versions, there is a new feature called “open tabs” feature. In short this feature is for people who are quick and fast users like people working at different places. When you suddenly shutdown your computer at your office and want to open the same tabs at home, this feature is for you.
For eg in Chrome, you have the Xmarks icon beside the addressbar, right click on it to get options. Now when you click options, you are shown a window. Goto the Sync tab and check the “Open tabs” checkbox. Give your computer a name. For eg. mine I have given it as “My Computer”. Thats it, your “open tabs feature is working.
Now goto my.xmarks.com and login with your username and password for Xmarks. You are presented with your bookmarks. Goto Options –> Open Remote tabs.
As you can see in “Xmarks Open Tabs” you will be presented with your suddenly closed bookmarks. For eg. I have closed my Ubuntu OS session and with that, my Firefox in Ubuntu also closed. Now I want to get all the open tabs in Firefox for the closed Ubuntu session. As you can see in the fig. there is an “Ubuntu” ( which i named my computer in Ubuntu) with Firefox beneath it. All the tabs that are open in Firefox in Ubuntu can be seen in Windows 7.
The same can be dealt with Office and Home. If you name your computer at Office as Office and if you suddenly close your computer, you can regain all your tabs at Home or again at any other place or time.
